Poetics in Practice

Open to all UG, PG students and academics, this series of workshops seeks to explore creative writing in a foreign language. It will be the opportunity for participants

  • to experiment with writing poetry in a second or third language
  • to share ideas from a transcultural perspective about the place of creative writing in Modern Languages as a discipline
  • to engage with the notion of ‘poetics’ understood as ‘method’ from Aristotle to now
  • to discuss creative writing as research

The initial meeting will take place online (via Teams) on Tuesday 13th October, 1-2pm. We will set out the principles and main themes of future workshops which will allow participants to practise writing in a workshop environment and to share/discuss their work in progress.

No previous experience of creative writing is required.
